Our organization is a non-profit organization formed by a group of Somali Bantus who came in the United States as a refugee immigrants. These Somali Bantu group formed on July 18th 2005, and it is also formed to assist their community members with issues of intergration in the United States.
The Somali Bantu Association of New Hampshire (SBA-NH) was founded in 2006 with a mission to facilitate the resettlement of the Somali Bantu communities, especially in Manchester, New Hampshire, by providing assistance to its members in order to enhance their access to services, education, economic resources, and opportunities for self-sufficiency. By building stronger community, both through direct service and education, the SBA-NH facilitates the social, emotional, and cultural transition of its refugee families into the mainstream American society.
The SBA-NH is currently comprised of a Board of Directors, and acting Director, and other committed community members attempting serve the communities needs through a model of self-help. The SBA-NH Board is composed of 7 individuals, including the Director, from the Somali Bantu community, who have arrived in New Hampshire as refugees within recent years. All board members are Somali Bantu and offer their time voluntarily.
